Book Club: Women in Readership

Women In Readership – A Women’s Leadership Book Club

As women, we need connection and support to thrive at home and at work. Sometimes, our best ideas go undeveloped just because there was no one beside us to say “You can do it!” Our book club, Women in Readership, creates space for you to come together with other women to read great books, discuss great ideas, and create great lives for yourselves and your family.

Women in Readership is open to women in all walks of life and all career levels. The only requirement is that you be open to discussing new ideas (and hopefully, you’ll make time to read the book each month!)

The Book Club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:45 p.m. at The Avenue, 141 N. Martinwood Road in West Knoxville to discuss that month’s book and how we can act on the new ideas we learn. We hope you can join us!

November/December 2017

A special date for the holiday season. Join us on November 30 when we will read and talk about The Icarus Deception: How High Will You Fly? by Seth Godin.

Here’s bit of the book blurb from Amazon:

“In Seth Godin’s most inspiring book, he challenges readers to find the courage to treat their work as a form of art. Everyone knows that Icarus’s father made him wings and told him not to fly too close to the sun; he ignored the warning and plunged to his doom. The lesson: Play it safe. Listen to the experts. It was the perfect propaganda for the industrial economy. What boss wouldn’t want employees to believe that obedience and conformity are the keys to success?”

“In this refreshingly entertaining how-to guide, #1 New York Times Bestselling  Author and world-traveling success coach, Jen Sincero, serves up 27 bite-sized chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word. If you’re ready to make some serious changes around here, You Are a Badass will help you: Identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want, blast past your fears so you can take big exciting risks, figure out how to make some damn money already, learn to love yourself and others, set big goals and reach them – it will basically show you how to create a life you totally love, and how to create it NOW.”
